The Royal Marsden Hospital together with its academic partner The Institute of Cancer Research form the only specialist cancer NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), receiving £43m over five years to support translational clinical research into cancer diagnosis and treatment. The joint institution demonstrates breadth and depth in experimental cancer research, and provides a highly active and effective clinical research environment, with a critical mass of experienced internationally renowned clinicians and biomedical scientists engaged in leading-edge translational research.

The BRC is seeking an experienced Training and Education Manager to lead on the continuous development of the BRC Training and Education strategy ensuring that there is a collaborative approach to the evolving needs for the training and development of three staff groups: clinical academics, health professionals (nurse / AHP researchers) and the wider research support workforce. In alignment with the current BRC training and capacity building strategy, the post-holder will develop and manage a suite of programmes designed to support clinical and non-clinical researchers to develop their careers and coordinate the delivery of training for clinical research workforce. The post-holder will provide overall direction for the Clinical R&D Administrator (Training and PPI/E).

Candidates should have experience of working in a comparable role in a higher education institution or institutions such as royal colleges, charitable or government research funders with excellent knowledge of the clinical academic training pathway and the barriers to progression that clinical academics face early in their careers.  Experience in strategy development and implementation is essential to this post. The ideal candidate will also have experience of designing and coordinating the delivery of training for clinical research staff.

This position is full-time, funded until 31st March 2022 in the first instance with the possibility of extension, primarily based in the BRC office in Sutton with regular travel to the Chelsea.
