THE ROYAL MARSDEN NHS FOUNDATION TRUST
CLINICAL RESEARCH FELLOW - WEST WING CLINICAL RESEARCH CENTRE
Fixed Term 12 months (40 hours)
Location: Sutton

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is recognised world-wide for the quality of its cancer services. The Trust’s strategic aim is to achieve excellence in cancer treatment and diagnosis, through partnership and collaboration.

The NIHR Specialist Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) for Cancer is based at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and The Institute of Cancer Research, which together form the largest Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Europe. Together we aim to deliver improved targeted therapies for all cancer patients through personalised and stratified treatment specific to individual genetic, molecular and functional characteristics.

The West Wing Clinical Research Centre (WWCRC) is a clinical research facility at the Sutton site of The Royal Marsden Hospital which provides a dedicated space and a comfortable environment for patients participating in clinical trials. WWCRC includes laboratory facilities for the processing of pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics blood samples, essential for clinical trials as well as a dedicated pharmacy room for rapid dispensing of clinical trial drugs. It incorporates space for the Clinical Research Teams to operate with consulting rooms for research clinics, day recovery beds for patients undergoing research-related per-protocol tumour biopsies/procedures.

We are seeking a Clinical Research Fellow to work on WWCRC. The successful candidate will be an experienced individual with excellent leadership and communication skills, the ability to exercise judgement, passion for their work, flexibility and a strong customer focus. We expect the ideal candidate to show evidence of professional development and be prepared to undertake further development.

The Clinical Research Fellow will be responsible, under the direction of the consultants, for the assessment, investigation, treatment and if necessary, admission of these patients to the Royal Marsden Hospital through the normal channels. The Clinical Research Fellow will be expected to participate in clinical research as appropriate. In addition, they will have close day to day supervision of the clinical research programmes of the various units and will be expected to participate in audits, perform practical procedures and deal with medical emergencies in the WWCRC when they arise.

Applicants will hold the MRCP or equivalent, have previous experience in medical oncology and be fully registered with the GMC.
