Band 8a Operational Superintendent Therapeutic Radiographer.
The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust – based at Sutton.

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust has an international reputation for high quality patient care, education and research and its partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research has created the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe. The Sutton Radiotherapy department has seven Elekta linear accelerators, six of which have Conebeam CT, one of which has a Hexapod, 2 Siemens CT scanners and a Gulmay superficial unit. In addition we have a research funded MR linac and installation about to start for a CyberKnife.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with expert radiotherapy knowledge and technical skills to join the operational management team running the radiotherapy service at the Sutton site. As a manager you will need to demonstrate good organisational skills, have experience of managing people, have the ability to work flexibly and have a high level of personal resilience and problem solving. The expectation is that the individual that will be successful in this post will be keen to implement change and embrace the fast paced nature of the industry internationally, which will necessitate developing key relationships with multiprofessional networks both within the Trust and externally.

The operational superintendents are also assigned specific tumour groups on a rotational basis and are there to provide expert advice and leadership, with key working relationships with clinical oncologists, radiotherapy planning team , treatment and pre-treatment radiographers. The post holder will support the on-going professional development of staff and maintain their own portfolio of advanced practice. The post holder will also contribute to maintaining the radiotherapy BSI accreditation and ensure that all patients receive an outstanding quality of service as demonstrated by our CQC report.
