An exciting opportunity has arisen for a pharmacist to take the lead on provision of clinical pharmacy services to the Urology and Gynaecology units at the Trust.

The specialist pharmacist plays an integral role in the delivery of medicines management services to patients at the Trust. It is a high profile post within an innovative team, with the previous post holder working as a non-medical prescriber in regular weekly clinic sessions. The post is based on the Sutton site but works across the Trust including the Chelsea site and Sir William Rouse unit (Kingston site).

You will work closely with the clinical teams to support the expanding research and development activities of the unit. You will have opportunity to take part in practice based and clinical research presenting findings at national and international conferences.

You will provide guidance, training and support to pharmacy and multidisciplinary staff providing services to patients with cancer. You will provide expert pharmaceutical advice and financial information to key decision makers within the Trust, including analysis and commentary on drug expenditure and service delivery models.

We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic senior pharmacist with excellent communication skills to undertake the role and support the pharmacy and clinical teams in continuing the development of services at the Royal Marsden. This will be a superb opportunity for a forward thinking and patient focused senior pharmacist to gain excellent experience at the forefront of oncology practice.

The Trust has invested in pharmacy as a key component in further enhancing the quality and efficiency of services to patients. The main challenges ahead are developing, implementing and sustaining change that results in real improvement in the clinical management of medicines in all areas.

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe and is ranked as one of the top NHS trusts in the NHS national performance rankings. Our Pharmacy Department plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing the Trust’s reputation.
