Are you a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with an interested working in an acute physical health setting?

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is a leading Cancer Hospital in London and is recruiting to a new full-time Band 8a Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist role in its Adult Psychological Support Service. The post holder will be responsible for leading the service’s directive therapy (i.e. CBT, ACT, Compassion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness based therapies) pathway. (The other pathways within the service include non-directive therapies, family work and psychiatry.) This will involve providing CPD and training within and external to the department and the development of new ways of working, such as the establishment of psycho-education groups. An important part of the post will be involvement in the development of an exciting new model for responding to the psychological needs of our inpatient setting. The post holder will contribute to a Duty Clinician function (alongside another psychologist, a counsellor, a mental health nurse and an assistant psychologist) and will therefore be an important part of the interface between our service and the inpatient departments of the hospital. Although experience working as a psychologist in a physical health setting is preferred it is not essential as we are keen to increase the amount of experience within our team of people who have worked in mental health settings.

This is a full-time post based in our Sutton hospital, with occasional days in the Chelsea site. You will be joining a supportive and friendly team of qualified and trainee staff from across a range of clinical backgrounds, including art therapy, counselling, psychology (clinical and counselling), psychosexual therapy, psychiatry and mental health nurses.

We welcome you contacting us if you would like to discuss the role or to arrange an informal visit. Please contact Dr Justin Grayer Principal Psychologist, Lead for Adult Psychological Support.

Closing date: Sunday 20th January 2019 Provisional interview date and location: the week starting Monday 28th January 2019 at The Royal Marsden Hospital, Downs Road, Sutton
