Advert Junior Doctor in Haemato-Oncology (CMT level)

Fixed term - 6 months or 12 months

Core Medical Trainee level

Start dates available from February 2019 and August 2019

Applications are invited for the position of Junior Doctor in Haemato-Oncology at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. The Royal Marsden is a world leader in cancer research, treatment, and education. Together with our academic partner, The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), we are the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe and the only National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Biomedical Research Centre specialising in cancer in the UK. Following a redesign of our rota these recently structured junior doctor roles will form part of our medical inpatient service for haemato-oncology patients.

They are suitable for doctors who have completed Foundation Training and are looking to gain further medical experience before moving into core training in medicine or general practice. Additionally, doctors who have completed core medical training and are considering a career in haemato-oncology, oncology, or palliative medicine and doctors from overseas who are looking for roles in oncology within the NHS will be ideally suited to these positions. The successful applicant will join a dedicated, specialist team, working with consultants, SpRs, CNSs, and ward staff to ensure high quality patient care.

They will take day to day responsibility for inpatients and contribute to the weekend Haemato-oncology rota. Trainees with specific interest in haematology would have opportunity to learn basic morphology of blood films and to undertake bone marrow aspiration/trephine with supervision.
