The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust together with its academic partner The Institute of Cancer Research form the only specialist cancer NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), receiving £43m over five years to support translational clinical research into cancer diagnosis and treatment. The joint institution demonstrates breadth and depth in experimental cancer research, and provides a highly active and effective clinical research environment, with a critical mass of experienced internationally renowned clinicians and biomedical scientists engaged in leading-edge translational research.

The BRC is seeking a Digital Communications and Events Officer to promote its activities, outputs and impact, build public and patient engagement with our research and make sure information reaches our target audiences. The post holder will coordinate the input from a variety of stakeholders to generate content for and manage the BRC website, social media communications and other channels. Supporting planning, delivery and follow-up of BRC external and internal high profile events including national conferences/workshops, training events to support delivery of the BRC Training and Education strategy and patient and public engagement events, will also be an important part of the role.

The applicant will be proactive and highly organised, with a working knowledge of a broad range of communications disciplines, including social media, and digital communications and an excellent attention to detail. Candidates must be able to write clearly and use online design tools to engage creatively with our online audience.  Experience of both organising and supporting others to organise events is desirable.

This position is full-time, funded until 31st March 2022 in the first instance with the possibility of extension, based in both the BRC office and the Marketing and Communications office in Chelsea or Sutton with regular travel between the sites,

The Royal Marsden is moving to a flexible work space so the post holder will be provided with laptop for flexible working between sites and hot desking space.
