Senior Staff Nurse Royal Marsden Macmillan Hotline Telephone Triage and the Clinical Assessment Unit rotation, Location – Chelsea
Band 6, permanent

Are you an oncology or acute care nurse with excellent communication skills who enjoys working in a team assessing patients and providing them with appropriate support and advice?

We are expanding our acute oncology service and are therefore looking for dynamic staff with a passion for improving patient experience to enlarge our nursing team. We are offering a unique opportunity to rotate through Acute oncology working within the Clinical Assessment Unit (CAU) and telephone triage within the Royal Marsden Macmillan Hotline (RMMH).

The successful post-holder will provide a service to ensure patients who are acutely unwell have an experience that is coordinated and efficient. This involves assessing and providing advice and support to Royal Marsden patients whilst working in our telephone hotline service as well as clinical shifts in the Clinical Assessment Unit. In collaboration with Macmillan we have established the Royal Marsden Macmillan Hotline (RMMH) rotation, which allows us to comprehensively telephone assess and triage patients who are unwell due to their cancer treatment as well as follow their pathway through the Clinical Assessment Unit. The aim is to enable individuals to access the appropriate level of care or provide them with advice to manage their symptoms at home. This will include providing medication advice and health information by utilising professional clinical judgment supported by clinical pathway tools. The RMMH operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

In return for your commitment in the role and depending on your experience, you will have access to specific training including study days and modules and you will also have support from and access to training provided by Macmillan and will be a part of their nursing network.

We are looking for experienced cancer or acute care nurses with excellent communication skills who wish to develop their patient assessment and provide sound clinical advice.
