The Operating Theatres are located on the Chelsea and Sutton sites and Endoscopy Unit the Chelsea site. In Chelsea, there are seven theatres (including two laparoscopic theatres) and 14 recovery bays that provide care to adults, as well as the two da Vinci Robots. In Sutton, there are two theatres and five recovery bays that provide care to both adults and paediatrics. The Endoscopy unit offers a range of day case and inpatient therapeutic and diagnostic endoscopic procedures.      

The teams include Anaesthetists, Surgeons, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Surgical First Assistants, Nursing Staff, Operating Department Practitioners, Health Care Assistants and Porters.

The role of Deputy Matron is pivotal in supporting the Matron in the delivery of our high standards of surgical and diagnostic care to all patients, their family and significant others. We are seeking a highly motivated theatre nurse or practitioner who will work in collaboration with our Matron, consultants and dedicated multi-professional team. You will clinically and professionally lead over 100 nurses and operating department practitioners in collaboration with the Matron. The post holder will also collaborate with other Matrons such as the Matron for Critical Care.

The successful candidate will have excellent theatre clinical skills with a post gradute theatre qualification. Significant experience in a senior healthcare management role is essential at a minimum of band 7.
