Trust Freedom to Speak Up Guardian

 The purpose of the Trust Freedom to Speak up Guardian role is to help protect patient safety and improve the experience of staff by encouraging staff to raise concerns and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Working with the Non-Executive Lead and Director of Workforce, the Trust Guardian plays a key role in helping to develop a culture where staff feel able to raise their concerns in confidence, know their concerns will be handled appropriately and promptly.  

The Trust Guardian will lead a team of Divisional Freedom to Speak up Champions who provide an impartial and confidential place for staff to go to discuss their concerns before making any decision about how to proceed. Champions manage their own case load but may need to discuss concerns with you where they need additional advice or support.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal relationship skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels, including providing written reports to Trust committees. They will be able to process and interpret highly complex, sensitive and contentious information and make sound judgements about appropriate actions to take, seeking advice where appropriate and providing honest and timely feedback.

The ideal candidate should have a recognised clinical or other professional qualification and be educated to degree level or have degree level or equivalent level experience. Training will be provided to the successful candidate.
